Banana Phone

Sources at Strategic Planet have just discovered that Apple and Blackberry are teaming up to produce the brand new Banana phone. They hope to target the health conscious market by offering it as one of the five portions of fruit per day that individuals should consume. The product will only be available on the Orange network: EE said that they thought this would be the best brand to use as it fits with Apple’s core values.

The project, code name “Fruit Basket” has been on the go for many years. Project leader Ms April O’toole said, “We are so glad that we can now share with you this great news. The concept is so simple, you have a keypad, earpiece and microphone that connects to a banana and it’s the chemicals within the banana that power the phone”.

Jim Dick (Head of Marketing) said, “our society is becoming more health conscious: we saw this as a big gap in the digital communications arena so we developed the all new Banana phone. You can use it right up until the banana goes off or you can munch through the phone if you are feeling hungry. Don’t forget to remove the pad, ear piece and microphone first though”.

Prof. Toby Shaw (another Fruit Basket team member) said, “Our network provider will be limited to Orange, as none of the others were interested. They will really regret that decision as we think this will take the world by storm. The tariff will also have a loyalty system known as ‘Pips’; for every call you make you get a ‘Pip’ which can then be claimed against a range of great prizes”.

Strategic Planet also got to see many of the proto-types. They had tried nearly every fruit and veg know to man. The banana came top in all user tests although a potato version is being developed specifically for the Irish market.

No pricing decisions have been made yet however the distribution channel will be through green grocers and supermarkets across the world.
